Dons Host Brubaker Invitational, Women take 6th Place, Men Finish 8th

IRVINE - The Santa Ana College cross country program hosted 17 teams overall for the 2013 Brubaker Invitational held at Irvine Regional Park. The Dons took sixth place as a team on the women's side and eighth place on the men's side.

Leading the way for the women was Quetzalin Tepayotl who crossed the finish line at the 19:30 mark, placing her third overall behind a pair of Orange Empire Conference runners from Riverside City College and Golden West College. Next across the finish line for the Dons was Azahelea Vazquez who scored in 23rd place, Marisol Vapor who scored in 27th place, Angie Gomez in 30th and Jazmin Avila in 33rd place. Also finishing for the Dons was Gisela Lopez in 41st place and Daena Marquez in 54th place.

Taking first place as a team was Fullerton College followed by Palomar College in second place and Riverside City College in third place.

In the men's race, Edwin Ortiz-Lopez was the first Don runner across the finish place as he 27th place overall while scoring in 23rd place. Following him was Geovany Garcia who scored in 42nd place, Miguel Servin  who scored in 46th place, Alfonso Anguiano who scored in 50th place and Adrian Delgado who scored in 54th place. Also finishing for the Dons was Rafael Godinez in 84th place and Carlos Otiniano in 87th place.

The team competition was on the men's side was won by San Bernardino Valley College with Southwestern College taking second place and El Camino College coming in third place. San Bernardino Valley had the top-four runners in the race.
