Lopez Ends Season with 7th Place at State

Freshman runner Toni Lopez capped off her history-setting season with a seventh place finish at the 2015 California Community College Athletic Association Cross Country State Championships held at Woodward Park in Fresno.

Lopez's season consisted of three victories, including the first-ever Orange Empire Conference Championship in women's cross country at Santa Ana College. Her time at the State Championships, 18:28.7, was her second-fastest run of the season with her top-time coming at the Titan Invitational in October.

As a team, the women finished in 19th place overall while the men's team, led by Paulino Sanchez, finished 12th overall at the State Championships. Sanchez finished 20th overall, with Geovany Garcia not far behind in 27th place.

This was the first time since 2008 that both the men's and women's cross country teams qualified for the CCCAA State Championships.
