The Santa Ana College (SAC) women's basketball team defeated Orange Coast College 61-53 for its first Orange Empire Conference win since 2009. The win also snapped the Dons 21-game losing streak to the Pirates.

The two teams traded the lead through the majority of the first half with the largest lead belonging to the Dons (6-17, 1-8) at 12-5. Orange Coast (10-15, 2-6) would come back to hold the lead at the half, 30-28.

The teams continued to trade the lead through the first 10 minutes of the second half up to the Pirates 44-42 lead with 10:31 remaining in the game. Anna Nguyen answered with a three-point basket to give the Dons the lead for good at 45-44.

The Dons lead never exceeded three points until the final 1:18 when Berlin Ohanesian went 3-for-4 from the free throw before Alexus Lopez closed out the game with a pair of free throws.

Nguyen led all scorers with 21 points with five three-point baskets made. She was followed by Ohanesian with 17 points and Janelle Flores with 12 points.
