Wardlow and Barajas Recognized as SAC Student-Athletes of the Month

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Santa Ana Kinesiology & Athletics Department has named Ally Wardlow and Giovanni Barajas the SAC Student-Athletes of the Month for October, 2019.

In the month of October, freshman libero Ally Wardlow collected over 200 digs to go with 21 aces for the Santa Ana volleyball team. Wardlow now leads the Orange Empire Conference in both categories at 418 digs and 53 aces this season. In addition, she ranks second all-time in program history for digs in a season single season and has broken the record for aces that was previously held by Latoya Rucker who posted 49 back in 2004.

Wardlow is joined by Giovanni Barajas, who was named the Male Student-Athlete of the Month after placing first in the Cerritos Invitational, Brubaker Invitational and bringing home the Orange Empire Conference championship at the end of the month. The sophomore from Garden Grove set a personal record and joined an elite group of runners to post sub 20 minute times, clocking in at 19:51 at Cerritos.
