Reilly and Rivera Commit to Four Year Schools

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Santa Ana College Baseball program will add two more to its 2017 transfer total, as Derek Reilly and Julio Rivera have both found new homes.

Shortstop Derek Reilly has committed to Houston Baptist University to become the fourth Don in 2017 to earn a scholarship from a NCAA Division I school.

The sophomore from El Dorado High hit .294 this year with two home runs, 25 runs batted in and seven stolen bases. On the defensive end, he totaled 150 assists on the season with just 16 errors at a fielding percentage of .929.

The University of Houston Baptist competes in the Southland Conference and finished the 2017 season with an overall record of 29-25 and conference record of 18-12.

Sophomore outfielder Julio Rivera has announced his commitment to Vanguard University.

Rivera played a huge role in the Dons offense this season as he drove in 28 runs with four home runs while batting .301, which was good for third-best on the team.

Vanguard is a NAIA school that competes in the GSAC Conference. The Lions were 32-23 overall this season with a conference record of 19-11.
