SAC Baseball Shuts Out Fullerton 12-0 in Series Opener

SANTA ANA, Calif. - No. 2 Santa Ana Baseball got back in rhythm as they posted 12 runs while throwing a shutout against the No. 14 ranked Fullerton Hornets (19-13, 7-6) in Orange Empire Conference play on Tuesday. 

It was a much needed win with the Dons coming off two consecutive losses and sitting in fifth place before first pitch. 

With the pressure on, sophomore pitcher Chase Hennessey delivered once again with a seven inning, four strikeout performance to lead the Dons to the shutout. 

Hennessey improved to 5-0 for the year while lowering his ERA to 2.64. 

The Dons provided plenty of run support behind big a day from Kyle Ashworth, Brock Denbo and Ryann Stock

Ashworth finished 4-of-5 with a couple of doubles while Denbo and Stock drove in half of the Don runs with three RBI each.  

Stock collected two of his RBI on a triple to right center in the second inning which gave SAC a 3-0 lead. He knocked another one in on a fielder's choice in the fourth. Denbo recorded all three of his runs battin in with a shot over the left field fence to break the game open in the third, pushing the Don lead to 7-0. 

Santa Ana moves into a tie for fourth with Fullerton after the win and trails the Saddleback Bocats by two games. 

The Dons will host Fullerton once again on Thursday at 2:00 p.m.
