De Anda Drives Home Six, Dons Defeat ELAC 14-10 for Fifth Consecutive Win

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Jimmy De Anda recorded two hits and drove home six runners to lead the Santa Ana College Baseball team to a 14-10 come from behind win over East Los Angeles College (4-4) on Saturday afternoon.

The sophomore center fielder went 2-of-3 with a double, a homerun and a walk to bring his season batting average up to .382.

Santa Ana (6-1-1) found themselves down 8-4 in the sixth inning but rallied to tie the game after a Huskie pitching change.

Izaak Fernandez brought in the first run of the inning with a sacrifice fly to right field. Christian Altamirano followed that with an RBI single and then came around to score on a wild pitch. Michael Rocha wrapped up the scoring for the inning with his own RBI single through the middle to tie the game at 8-8.

ELAC responded quickly, in the seventh with one more run on a Fabian Dominguez single.

But it wasn't enough to hold off the Dons as they kept the runs coming in the bottom half of the inning with four more, highlighted by De Anda's three run homer.

SAC used a handful of pitchers in this one but it was Alan Huerta who got the win after throwing the final two and a third innings. The sophomore struck out five while conceding just one for his first win of the season.

The Dons collected their fifth consecutive win and will be back at home on Tuesday to host LA Valley at 2:00 p.m.
