No. 1 SAC Baseball Cruises in 11-2 Win Over Canyons, Extends Winning Streak to 11

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. - Jaxton Andeel went six 1/3 innings to earn his second win of the season while Jimmy De Anda finished 3-for-5 and drove in a season high seven runners to help the No. 1 ranked Santa Ana College Baseball team defeat No. 17 College of the Canyons 11-2 on Saturday afternoon.

The Dons offensive was clicking on all cylinders as they scored early and often while recording 21 hits on the day.

Christian Altamirano was a big part of that as the freshman infielder finished 5-of-5 with an RBI. Matthew Dobson, Carson Case and Jimmy De Anda collected three hits a piece to contribute to the onslaught.

As a team, the Dons improved their batting average to .309, which puts them 12th in the state in that category.

On the other side of the ball, Santa Ana continued to show that their pitching staff is one of the best in the state. Andeel led the way with another quality start before handing it off to sophomore Joey Iglesias, who struck out one and conceded a run in one 2/3 innings. Fellow sophomore Hauze Fragoso finished off the Cougars as he struck out two with a scoreless ninth inning.

SAC now ranked ninth best in the state with a team earned run average of 3.36.

The Dons will now take their 11 game winning streak into a three game series against No. 19 Glendale College. Game one of the series will be at Santa Ana College on Tuesday, February 27th at 2:00 p.m.
