De Anda’s Homer Lifts Dons to 8-7 Walk-Off Win in the 11th Inning

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Jimmy De Anda sent the SAC dugout into a frenzy as he lifted the second pitch of his at-bat in the 11th inning over the left field fence for a walk-off home run against the Golden West Rustlers (16-8, 4-3) on Tuesday afternoon.

The Dons (20-3-1, 6-1) found themselves down 7-4 in the eighth before mounting a comeback with three runs in the inning.

Abel Castrejon got things started as he pinch hit with the bases loaded, coming up with an RBI single. Santa Ana scored their second run of the inning when Jake Long brought home Thomas Williams on a sacrifice fly to left. De Anda had another clutch moment to tie the game with a single to center which drove in Carson Case

From there, the Dons leaned on Joey Iglesias on the mound to hold them down for the final inning. The sophomore out of San Diego was lights out as he went three scoreless innings including one of the best double plays you will see.

The Dons will play game two of the series on Thursday at Golden West at 2:00 p.m.
