Dons Mercy Rule COD, 11-3

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Santa Ana College Softball walked away with an 11-3 run rule win over the College of the Desert Roadrunners (1-6) in Wednesday's non-conference matchup.

Sonya Carnal stayed hot in the first inning with a line drive double down the right field line to give the Dons (3-6) a one run lead.

In the fourth inning, the Roadrunners got on the board, scoring on a SAC error to tie the game at 1-1.

The Dons responded quickly in the bottom half of the inning as Mia Luna brought home two runs on a bunt single and advanced on the throw. SAC scored once more in the inning after the Roadrunners committed an error to extend the inning.

Both teams scored one in the fifth inning but the Dons eventually started to pull away as their offense started to click.

The Dons finished off COD in the bottom of the sixth after Mel Avila came around to score on a ground out by Luna, giving them an 11-3 win.

Sarah Casey, Haley Martinez and Mia Luna combined for nine hits and six RBI on the day to lead the Dons.
