Escalante Signs With Pacific Lutheran University

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Sophia Escalante has signed a letter of intent to join the Pacific Lutheran University Lutes this Fall.

The sophomore guard from Kennedy High averaged 11.7 points, 5 rebounds and 2.8 assists over two seasons with the Dons while earning All-Orange Empire Conference honors twice.

"Sophia has been the best representative of our program, culture, and most importantly of what a student-athletes is," said SAC Head Women's Basketball Coach Flo Luppani. "She's been our captain for two years, she's made herself a great player by putting in the work and she deserves everything she is getting, and then some."

Escalante was also named the 2023 Santa Ana College Female Student-Athlete of the Year as well as an 2023 Orange Empire Conference Character Champion.

"I'm going to miss her leadership, work ethic, and confidence. Pacific Lutheran is getting a great player and person," said Coach Flo.
