SAC Drops Match to No. 4 Santiago Canyon

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Santa Ana Women's Soccer team put up a good fight against the No. 4 ranked Santiago Canyon Hawks on Friday afternoon.

Santiago Canyon got off plenty of shots in the first 30 minutes of the match but freshman goalkeeper Stephanie Tamayo made some big saves to keep them out of the net.

Tamayo collected six saves in 45 minutes before switching to the forward position.

In the 31st minute, the Hawks finally broke through after an unfortunate bounce for the Dons gave them an opportunity to score.

Just four minutes later, SCC put another one away on a shot from around 35 yards out to give them a 2-0 lead which they ended the half with.

The Hawks scored three more times in the second half, giving SAC a 5-0 loss.

Santa Ana moves to 1-8-2, 1-5 overall with the loss. The Dons will host Fullerton (3-8, 1-4) on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.
