Dons Sweep Southwestern 3-0 for First Win

SANTA ANA, Calif. – In its last non-conference match of the year, the Santa Ana volleyball team walked away with its first win, defeating the Southwestern Jaguars by a score of 3-0.

Alexis Santos led the way for the Dons with 12 kills on 23 attempts to go along with three aces and eight digs. Hannah DeGrasse did her part, adding 10 kills, three block assists and three aces, while Stephanie Ozokwo and Destiny Torres combined for another 14 kills and seven digs.

Setter Jasmin Cardona ran a smooth offense for Santa Ana, spreading the ball around to collect a season high 36 assists. She also recorded eight digs to help the Dons on defense.

After getting over the hump with their first win, the Dons hope to keep things rolling in the right direction going into Orange Empire Conference play. Santa Ana will hit the road to face Santiago Canyon College on Friday, September 21st at 6:00 p.m.
