Santa Ana Volley Picks Up First Win in 2019 Quad

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Santa Ana volleyball team picked up its first win of the 2019 season as the Dons they hosted their annual quad on September 4th. The teams included Santa Ana, Saddleback, Victor Valley and Cerro Coso.

SAC matched up with Cerro Coso in the first match and fell to the Coyotes by a score of 3-1. Myrandah Zepeda led the Dons in kills with 10 and was followed closely by Kenzie Nelson and Elizabeth Merold, who both had eight a piece.

Jordan Ninmer got the start at setter and recorded 13 assists while Taylor Hernandez and Courtney Gomez came off the bench to combine for 14.

In game two, the Dons took command early and swept the Victor Valley Rams for their first win of the season. Santa Ana had five players with at least three kills with Merold leading the way at six in the match. Gomez was the primary setter in this one, finishing with 14 assists.

Libero Ally Wardlow had a solid day as she tallied 36 digs and eight aces in the quad.

Santa Ana will continue their season with Saddleback Quad on Friday.
