Men's and Women's Cross Country Each Finish 12th at Golden West Invitational

HUNTINGTON BEACH - The men's and women's cross country teams matched each other at the Golden West Invitational with both teams finishing collectively in 12th place. Following today's race, the Dons will have nearly two weeks off to prepare for their host event, the Brubaker Invitational held on October 10 at Irvine Regional Park.

Azahalea Vazquez was the top finisher for the women for the third straight race as she turned in a 29th place performance with Jazmin Avila not far behind in 43rd place. Next across the finish line was Elisa Mendez in 66th pace and Yesenia Velez in 81st place. The fifth, and final, runner for the Dons was Xiomara Duenas in 98th place.

In the men's race, it was Pedro Antunez leading the way in 19th place while Edward Chanon and Rafael Godinez finished back-to-back in 62nd and 63rd place, respectively. Next up was Adrian Hernandez in 84th place while Carlos Otiniano rounded out the scoring places for the Dons in 112th place. Jorge Diaz came across in 117th place and Alejandro Rodriguez finished in 122nd place to end the Dons day on the course.
