Dons Finish 4th in OEC Championships

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Santa Ana Men's Cross Country placed fourth in the 2022 Orange Empire Conference Men's Cross Country Championships at Central Park in Huntington Beach on Friday morning. 

The Dons competed against six other teams in the four mile race that included 66 total runners. 

In his best performance of the season thus far, sophomore standout Aldo Trujillo (20:46.90) earned a spot on the podium with a fifth place finish as he fought off a herd of Riverside runners in the last leg of the race. 

Bryce Tanikawa (22:07.17) and Jesus Espinoza (22:08.41) paced each other throughout the race and finished almost side by side to take 26th and 27th place. 

About a minute later, sophomore Eder Diaz clocked in at 23:08.53 for a personal record and a 39th place finish. Zahid Sadat followed just two spots behind him at 41st with a time of 23:12.65.

Jean Rico rounded out the group with a time of 24:15.11, good for 51st place. 

SAC will continue their season with the CCCAA SoCal Regionals at Kern County Soccer Park in Bakersfield on Friday, November 4th.
