Dons Take Two out of Three in Series against Golden West

SANTA ANA, Calif. – On Friday afternoon the Santa Ana College Baseball team lost the final game of its series against Golden West College by a score of 8-3. The Dons took the first two games of the series but could not mount a comeback in game number three.

Dons starting pitcher Gabe Armstrong came out sharp, striking out the side in the top of the first. The right-hander gave up 5 runs, three of which were earned, and struck out seven in four and third innings.

In the third, first baseman Nathan Flores put Santa Ana on top with two out single that brought in Derek Reilley and Erick Leef, making the score 2-1.

Santa Ana fell behind after giving up runs in innings four through seven but they weren't done yet, as they loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Shortstop Derek Reilly was up to bat and hit a slow roller seemed to hit him in the foot. The umpire saw it differently and called the ball fair. The call resulted in a double play, which ended the rally for Santa Ana.

The Dons Baseball team will continue its season when they travel to Fullerton College to start another three-game series on Tuesday, Mar. 28th. The game time is set for 2:00 PM.
