In Game Two the Dons Overwhelm the Hornets 11-2

SANTA ANA, Calif. – In the second game of its three-game series against Fullerton College, the Santa Ana College Baseball team racked up 11 runs on 18 hits to overwhelm the Hornets for the win.

The two teams were tied at one apiece early on but Santa Ana exploded for four runs in the bottom of the second inning to take control of the game.

Throughout the game the Dons kept tacking on runs, scoring in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings to extend the lead.

Eleven runs were plenty of cushion for Santa Ana's starting pitcher Nigel Ward, as he went seven innings with three strikeouts and no earned runs to pick up his sixth win of the season.

Freshman Brian Cromwell got the start at second base and delivered with two hits, three runs and drove in three on the day. Nathan Flores and Justin Mellano both helped out with two RBI's each and combined for five hits.

With the win, the Dons improve to 19-8 overall, and 5-6 in conference play. They'll go for the sweep against the Hornets on Saturday, April 1st at 12:00 PM on the campus of Fullerton College.
