Dons Cruise to 80-62 Victory over MiraCosta College in Home Opener

SANTA ANA - Behind 25 points and a perfect 7-for-7 three-point shooting by Cammie Lewis, the Dons got an 80-62 victory over MiraCosta College in their home opener. The Dons improve to 3-1 on the season following their second victory over MiraCosta while the Spartans fall to 0-3 on the young season.

The Dons jumped out to a 38-22 lead at the half on 48% shooting while hitting 37% of their three-pointers, including 3-for-3 by Lewis. On the half, Lewis led the Dons with 11 points while Terrence Blum chipped in nine points.


In the second half, the Spartans played the Dons nearly even with SAC getting a two-point edge at 42-40. Lewis continued his hot shooting as he connecting on all four of his three-point attempts in the second half. As a team, the Dons saw little drop-off as they shot 47% in the second half.

Following Lewis' 25-point effort was Blum with 17 while Cameron Hill added 10 points. Erik Emanuel controlled the rebounding for the Dons as he grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. Emanuel was also the assist leader with seven.

MiraCosta was led by Kevin Marsh who matched Lewis' 25 points while Chuck Smith was the only other Spartan to score in double digits with 10 points.

The Dons remain home for their next game when they host San Diego Mesa College on November 20 with tipoff at 6:30 p.m.
