Dons Pull Away Late to Defeat San Diego Mesa College 90-81

SANTA ANA - The Dons recorded their fourth straight victory with a 90-81 win over visiting San Diego Mesa College in a non-conference game. The Dons improve to 4-1 on the season while Mesa drops to 4-3 with the loss.

The Dons held a three-point lead at the half after trailing by as many as six points. Cammie Lewis hit a jumper with 1:21 left in the half to tie the game at 43-43 before Cameron Hill's layup, plus a foul, put the Dons up 46-43 going into the break.

Mesa would come back in the second half, reclaiming the lead at 59-58 with 12:23 remaining in the game before building its largest lead of the half at 65-60. But the Dons would come back, taking the lead for good at 70-69 on a DuJuan Williams layup at 7:48. From there, the Dons would go up by as many as 10 points before winning by a final of 90-81.

Hill and Lewis led the way for the Dons with 20 points apiece while Williams added 15 points off the bench. Terrence Blum was the final Don scorer in double digits with 12 points. Hill and Erik Emanuel led the game with 11 rebounds apiece with Emanuel also leading the way with eight assists.
