SANTA ANA - The Dons completed the season sweep of Fullerton College with an 80-66 victory to open the second round of Orange Empire Conference competition. The win improves the Dons to 12-9 on the season and 6-1 in conference while Fullerton falls to 5-17 and 1-6.

Fullerton used a late bucket in the first half to carry a 39-37 lead into halftime. That halftime lead for the Hornets came after the Dons controlled the early minutes with leads at 13-4 and 17-11. But the Hornets would come back to tie the game at 17-17 as the teams swapped the lead back-and-forth for most of the first half.

But it didn't take long for the Dons to take over the lead for good in the second half with Chad Young opening scoring with a three-pointer that put the Dons up 40-39. From there, the Dons built their lead to 10 points halfway through the second half at 54-44. Fullerton would get as close as six points with three minutes left, but the Dons closed out the game on a 13-6 run to claim the victory.

Young led all scorers with 23 points while Cammie Lewis scored 22 points. Erik Emanuel was the third scorer in double digits with 16, he also led the team with seven rebounds.
