Dons Overpower Golden West to Win 9-0 in OEC Action

SANTA ANA, Calif. - No. 8 ranked Santa Ana Softball stayed undefeated in Orange Empire Conference play, topping Golden West (2-6, 0-4) 9-0 in just five innings on Wednesday afternoon. 

Sonya Carnal got the start at DP and immediately delivered with a two run single to give the Dons the lead in the bottom of the first inning. 

The Dons really opened things up in the third as they scored five runs on three hits and a Rustler error to go up 7-0. SAC secured the mercy rule finish by scoring two more on another error from Golden West and a double down the right field line by Vinnie Robles.

Emily Rosas collected her 12th win of the year with six strikeouts in four innings while giving up just two hits. Amanda Mendoza entered the circle in the fifth and threw a scoreless inning to close the game. 

Santa Ana improves to 12-2, 4-0 overall following the win. The Dons will go on the road again to face Cypress (11-2, 4-0) in a battle for first place in the OEC standings on Friday. First pitch is set for 2:00 p.m.
