Jimenez Takes Third in 5K While Women’s 4x400 Hits PR

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Eric Jimenez has now qualified to race in two events at the CCCAA State Championships that will be held at Bakersfield College on May 18-19.

Jimenez placed fourth at the CCCAA SoCal Regional Finals in the 10,000m race with a time of 32:28.65. He followed that with a third place finish in the 5,000m event, racing to a time of 15:07.72 to qualify for the second consecutive year.

While Jimenez was the only Don to qualify for state, the Santa Ana Women's 4x400 relay team made history by running the second fastest time in school history at the SoCal Regional Finals. The team of Monique Azpeitia, Adrienne Jenkins, Kara Lattimore and Alexandria Owens took seventh overall in the finals with a personal record of 4:07.19.

The 2018 track & field season will come to an end on Saturday as the rest of the SAC team root for Eric Jimenez to bring a state championship back to Santa Ana.
