Jimenez Claims All-American Status in 5K and 10K Events

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – Eric Jimenez became an All-American as he represented the Santa Ana Track & Field team at the 2018 CCCAA Track & Field State Championships last weekend.

Jimenez qualified to race in the 5,000m and 10,000m events and showed he belonged in both. On Friday, the sophomore from Ocean View High raced to a third place finish in the 10K, coming in just a millisecond behind the runner up at a time of 31:36.64. He followed that up with a fourth place finish in the 5K with a time of 15:45.48. Jimenez earned two All-American honors by placing in the top 4 in both events.

After placing 12th in the 10K and not qualifying for the 5K last year, Jimenez has worked his way into the list of top runners in the state as a sophomore, giving the SAC team something to cheer about.

The Dons Track & Field team now hits the off season with many freshmen looking to get better and show the same improvements as Jimenez did this year.
