SAC Women’s Basketball Stays Undefeated with 71-50 Rout of Grossmont

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Dons put together a dominant performance as they stayed undefeated with a 71-50 win over the Grossmont Griffins (0-3) on Wednesday night. 

SAC (3-0) outscored their opponent in every quarter and expanded their lead to 27 with about six minutes left to play. A mixture of defensive strategies implemented by Coach Flo Luppani helped the Dons force 24 turnovers, which led to 31 points including 17 fastbreak points. 

In addition, the Dons outrebounded the Griffins by a mark of 46-33, which they used to gain an advantage of nine in both field goal and free throw attempts. 

Selena Hernandez led the way for Santa Ana as the sophomore hit four threes on her way to 23 points. The guard out of El Dorado also added three rebounds, two steals and a couple blocks. 

And freshman guard, Larissa Robles, recorded a double-double for the Dons with 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting and 10 assists. 

The 3-0 Dons will now take a break until hitting the road again from November 16th-18th when they play Hartnell College, Monterey Peninsula College and Cuesta College.
