Dons Hit 11 Threes in 71-60 Win over LA Pierce

SANTA ANA, Calif. - In their final game of the calendar year, SAC Women's Basketball hit 11 threes in a 71-60 win over the LA Pierce Brahmas (11-4) on Wednesday night.

The Brahmas entered the game with an impressive 11-3 record and a big reputation as a team that rebounds the ball well.

In 15 games played, LA Pierce is averaging 50.1 rebounds per game and outrebounding opponents by 12.7 per game.

That did not change tonight as they grabbed 53 compared to just 41 for the Dons (8-4).

But the great equalizer was the three point line as Santa Ana scored 30 more points (11-37 3PM-A) than the Brahmas (1-13 3PM-A) from beyond the arch.

Larissa Robles led the charge for the Dons as she nailed five threes and finished with 24 points, nine assists, five steals and four rebounds.

The guard out of Sonora High was also big down the stretch, hitting 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to help close the game.

Selena Hernandez provided another scoring punch with 21 points to go with three boards and two assists.

Sarah Henry, Dylyn Payne and Kylie Pulsifer added six points each while combining for 15 rebounds to contribute to the win.

SAC will be on the road to start the new year on Wednesday, January 3rd when they play LA Trade Tech at 7:30 p.m.
