Dons Host Annual Santa Ana College Tournament, Take Third Place

SANTA ANA - The Dons took third place in their host tournament, the 2013 Santa Ana College Tournament, behind tournament champions Fresno City College and Sacramento City College. Highlighting the Dons day was Juan Jaime who claimed SAC's only individual championship of the tournament.

Jaime, who is now 32-0 in his career at SAC, opened his day with a 16-6 win over George Mariscal of Cerritos College before defeating Carlos Reyes 20-5. In the semifinals, Jaime defeated Fresno City's Vicente Hernadez 7-3 before taking the 133-pound championship with an 8-4 win over Cuesta College's Michael Clemmensen.

Other top finishers for the Dons were Jacob Blackwell who took second place at 165-pounds, Juan Hernandez who took second place at 197-pounds, and Nathan Matteo who took third place at 157-pounds.

The Dons finished with 99.5 points, just three and a half points behind second place Sacramento City. Fresno City claimed the overall team championship with 134.5 points. Ali Naser of Fresno City was named the lower-weight MVP while Derrick Lee of West Hills College wsa named the upper-weight MVP.
