Dons Take Fourth Place at State Championships with Six All-Americans

The Dons compiled 98 team points at the California Community College Athletic Association Wrestling State Championships held at San Joaquin Delta College, giving them a fourth place finish. Out of the 10 wrestlers that qualified for the State Championships, six finished in the top-four of their weight class, earning them All-American honors.

Leading the way was Andrew Schulte who was edged 2-1 in the finals of the 141-pound weight class. Schulte's match was ultimately decided with 13 seconds remaining in the first period when Ali Naser scored a takedown. Schulte would get his point on an escape early in the second period, but was unable to score again as he took second place.

Following Schulte was Alfredo Nava who took third place at 184-pounds while Jacob Blackwell (165-pounds), Nathan Mateo (157-pounds), Richard Miranda (149-pounds), and Juan Hernandez (197-pounds) each finished in fourth place of their respective weight classes.

Rounding out placers for the Dons were Christian Hauser (125-pounds) and Aaron Dubois (174-pounds) who each finished in seventh place.

Sacramento City College won the overall team championship with 171 points, well ahead of Fresno City College in second place with 133.5 points. Fresno City had won the previous three State Championships. In third place, with 113.5 points, was Mount San Antonio College.
