With a perfect 4-0 mark in the month of February, Matt Blanchard was named the February Male Athlete of the Month by the California Community College Sports Information Association, in conjunction with the California Community College Athletic Association.

Blanchard made five starts for the Dons during the month, going 4-0 with a 1.50 earned run average. He held opponents to a .150 batting average while compiling 21 strikeouts over 30 innings of work.

His top performance of the month came when he opened Orange Empire Conference competition with a complete game win over Fullerton College. Blanchard held the Hornets to just two runs on four hits with eighth strikeouts.

Blanchard is the first Don to win the award since Jake Eccles, also of the baseball team, won the award in February of 2009. 

The monthly award is voted on by the California Community College Sports Information Association and is sponsored by D3 Athletic.
