No. 17 Santa Ana Outlasts SCC 1-0 to Earn Second Consecutive Win

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Moments after checking in at the 65th minute mark, Gilberto Garcia found some open space in the box and put away the game winning goal for the No. 17 ranked Santa Ana men's soccer team as they faced unranked Santiago Canyon in Orange Empire Conference play on Friday.

With the goal, Garcia snapped a seven game scoring spell to give him seven goals, including three game winners, on the season.

Santa Ana overwhelmed the SCC Hawks in the first half with an 11-1 shot advantage but failed to put one in. The Hawks kept the shot totals more even (7-6) in the second half but ironically, the Dons found a way to get on the board with one of their seven shots in the second half.

Frank Aguilar recorded his fourth shutout of the season with three saves on the day.

The Dons seem to be finding their groove again at just the right time as they have now won two straight to place themselves in a third place tie with No. 9 Orange Coast with a 9-4-2, 3-2-2 record.

NEXT UP: Santa Ana gets a rematch with the first place and No. 16 ranked Fullerton Hornets on Tuesday, November 1st. The matchup is set for 3:00 p.m. at Fullerton College.
