No. 11 Dons Fight Back to Earn 2-2 Draw Against No. 13 IVC

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Despite falling behind by two goals in the second half, the No. 11 ranked SAC Men's Soccer team fought back to earn a 2-2 draw against No. 13 Irvine Valley (6-2-4, 1-0-4) in a crucial Orange Empire Conference match on Tuesday.

In the 68th minute, the Dons (6-3-3,2-1-2) put some pressure on the Laser's back line with a cross into the box and earned a penalty kick.

Sophomore midfielder Isaac Pineda put the shot into the upper left corner of the goal to cut the deficit to just one.

Santa Ana continued to push forward, inserting players with energy such as Paul Carrillo, Michael Mierzwa, Luke Laussade and Remy Barazin. The substitutions paid off quickly, as Carrillo headed a pass from Pineda over the IVC goalkeeper's reach to tie the score in the 70th minute.

Both teams would get a few more decent looks at goal but the final whistle was called with the scored deadlocked at 2-2.

SAC goalkeeper Pablo Rea played a big part in the result as the sophomore from Santa Ana High finished with seven saves on the day.

The Dons will be back in action on Friday when they go on the road to face Golden West at 3:00 p.m.
