Dons Take Fourth Place at SoCal Regionals, Send Six Wrestlers to State

The Dons wrestling team will be well represented at the upcoming 2014 CCCAA State Championships at Cuesta College after qualifying six wrestlers from the Southern California Regionals held at Cerritos College.

The top finisher for the Dons was Micah Macias who won the individual championship at 174-pounds with two majority decisions on his way to the title. Joaquin Collister took second place at 149-pounds while Richard Miranda took third place at 157-pounds.

Miranda will be making a return trip to the State Championships as will Raul Hernandez who took fourth place at 184-pounds. Ronnie Collister qualified with his fifth place finish at 133-pounds and Eric Roberts rounded out the Dons qualifiers as he took seventh place at 165-pounds but won the true 6th challenge.

The Dons had two more placers in the Regionals in Alejandro Collazo who took sixth place at 141-pounds and Jonathan Fraser who took seventh place at 197-pounds.

Host Cerritos College won the team championship followed by Mt. San Antonio College and Palomar College.
