Santa Ana Drops Game Three to Cypress 3-1

SANTA ANA, Calif. –  The Santa Ana Baseball team had a couple opportunities to make a comeback to complete the sweep against No. 7 Cypress but could not get it done, falling to the Chargers 3-1 on Friday afternoon.

Twice, the Dons had runners on second and third with two outs only to leave runners stranded in big moments of the game.  Santa Ana finished with eight runners left on base compared to the Chargers' two.

Santa Ana manufactured their only run of the game after Erick Leef led off the first inning with a single. He then stole second and was moved over by Raymond Villanueva before coming home on a Juan Gonzalez sacrifice fly.

Gabe Armstrong took the loss for the Dons in one of his strongest outings of the season. The right hander went seven innings with seven strikeouts and just three earned runs. February's CCCAA Athlete of the Month, Jay Edwards, came in to finish the game, going two scoreless innings while adding another strikeout to his season total.

The Dons, now 12-13, 2-7, will visit Long Beach City on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in a non-conference matchup.
