Edwards and Flores Commit, Adding Two to the SAC Baseball Transfer List 

SANTA ANA, Calif. –  Santa Ana baseball has added two student-athletes to its transfer list with Jay Edwards and Nathan Flores committing to four-year schools. 

Pitcher Jay Edwards has announced his commitment to NCAA Division II Union University in Tennessee.

Edwards was huge for the Dons this season, stepping up as a sophomore to lead the pitching staff with eight wins and just one loss. The right hander from Villa Park threw 49 innings (3 starts) with an earned run average of 4.22 and 44 strikeouts.

He was also named Athlete of the Month in February by the California Community College Athletic Association. During the month of February, he posted four of Santa Ana's five wins with a 1.38 ERA during that span.

Union University placed 12th in a deep Gulf South Conference with a record of 17-32, 10-20 last season.

Sophomore outfielder/pitcher Nathan Flores has committed to the University of Hawaii after two years and 82 games with the Dons.

The lefty out of Orange Lutheran High played primarily right field for Santa Ana, hitting .287 with 63 runs batted in, seven stolen bases and four home runs in his career. He also pitched in 19 games for the Dons, adding 52 strikeouts with a career 4.48 ERA in 70.1 innings pitched.

Flores had a big sophomore season for the Dons in 2018, earning a spot on the Orange Empire Conference First Team in the utility spot. He hit .278 with 35 RBI's, four home runs while filling in as a reliable starting pitcher down the stretch of the season. 

The University of Hawaii is an NCAA Division I school that plays in the Big West Conference. The Rainbow Warriors took sixth place in conference play with a record of 27-24, 11-13 overall last season.
