Baker Strikes Out 10 in Complete Game, Dons Split Doubleheader with Fullerton

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Dane Baker was electric in Santa Ana's 5-2 win in game two of Friday's doubleheader against the Fullerton Hornets (2-6, 1-5).

When it counted most, Baker showed up and went all nine innings with 10 strikeouts and no earned runs to help SAC (6-2, 6-0) stay undefeated in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) play. Baker, who is now 1-0 on the season, leads the state in strikeouts with 25 to go with an ERA of 1.56.

In the lone conference game of the day, the Dons jumped on top early and continued to put up runs throughout the day. Led by shortstop Cedrick Perez, Santa Ana's offense scored a run in each of the first four innings. Perez finished 3-4 with an RBI while five other Dons picked up one hit a piece.

The Dons bounced back quickly from game one where they gave up a lead after Fullerton posted four runs in both the fourth and fifth innings, putting them up 8-5 before the time limit rule kicked in following the bottom of the sixth inning.

With the win, Santa Ana takes first place in the OEC standings after the second week of the 2021 season.

The Dons will take on Mt. San Antonio College in a non-conference series next week starting at home on Tuesday, April 27th at 2:00p.m. No spectators will be allowed but fans can follow the game on our Youtube channel at SacDons Athletics.
