Johnson and Clark Shine as Santa Ana Bounces Back Against Mt. SAC

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Marcus Johnson cashed in on his opportunities with three hits and an RBI while Knolton Clark kept the Mt. SAC (4-6,0-0) bats quiet, striking out five in six scoreless innings to help Santa Ana Baseball (7-3, 6-0) even their non-conference series with the Mounties with an 8-0 victory.

Johnson, a sophomore outfielder out of Tustin High, got the start in left field and put on a show. In his first at-bat of the day, Johnson lined a ball into the left field gap and turned on the speed to run out an RBI triple. An inning later he found some more grass with a double down the left field line and capped things off on a double to right center in the fifth. The sophomore is now hitting .267 with two runs batted in and three runs this season.

The rest of the Don lineup followed suit behind Johnson, knocking in eight runs on 11 hits. Micah Pietila-Wiggs and James Williams posted a couple hits each while Nick Lopez added a clutch two RBI single in the first. Sebastian McSherry was on base all day, scoring a pair of runs on two walks and a single.

Freshman pitcher Knolton Clark had all the runs he needed to get the job done as he recorded his second win of the season while keeping his ERA at 0.00. The righty has given up just three runs, none earned, in three starts.

In the seventh, Shane Carey got the call from the bullpen and went to work with three shutout innings to earn his first save of the season. Carey struck out three with one walk, bringing his ERA on the year to just 2.25.

Santa Ana will wrap up its series with Mt. SAC on Friday afternoon. Mt. SAC will host with games starting at 2:00 p.m.
