SANTA ANA - Just a day after being dropped out of the top spot of the Southern California rankings, the Dons defeated Santiago Canyon College 2-0. The Hawks were the team that moved up those standings the most, as they were placed in a tie for second place in the south.

But the Dons (7-1-3, 3-1-0) used goals in the 15th and 77th minutes to move into a tie for number one in the OEC with Santiago Canyon and Golden West College as the Rustlers won their match 2-1 at Cypress College.

Jorge Muratalla got the first goal for the Dons when he scored on a through ball from Francisco Vasquez. Ibrahim Kebe was the benefactor of two perfect passes, first from Samuel Pradervand to Guillermo Saldana near the right post before Saldana sent the ball across the box to Kebe for the goal.

The Hawks (7-2-1, 3-1-0) got three shots on goal in the match, but all three were turned away by Dennis Hernandez who posted his fourth shutout of the season. Christopher Martinez made five saves in goal for Santiago Canyon while allowing the two goals.

Next up for the Dons is a home match with Fullerton College on Tuesday, October 14 at 3:00 PM.
