SAC Softball Cruises to 9-1 Win over Golden West

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Santa Ana Softball team looked sharp as they cruised to a 9-1 five inning victory over Golden West (9-9, 2-5) in Orange Empire Conference (OEC) action on Friday.

SAC (9-10, 5-3) earned their second win of the season against the Rustlers while getting their second consecutive win.

The Dons separated themselves with a well balanced offense as they saw seven different players record a hit. They were also good with their gloves, allowing just one hit on the day.

Katie Neal earned her seventh win of the year after 4.2 innings of work. The freshman from Norco struckout one while giving up just one run to drop her ERA to 3.47.

Jayleena Perez made her first appearance in the circle as she entered in the fifth to record the final out of the game.

Offensively, the Dons were led by sophomore slugger Jojo Westerfield who went 3-for-3 with three runs batted in. The trio of Brittany Van Sickle, Mel Avila and Payton Samuels added two hits each to help produce plenty of runs for the Dons.

With the win, Santa Ana maintains their spot in third place in the OEC standings. The Dons will have a quick turnaround as they are set to host Fullerton College (12-4, 5-1) on Saturday morning at 10:00 a.m.
