Griego Hits for the Cycle, SAC Softball Explodes for 24 in Win Over GWC

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. - Sierra Griego continued her impressive season by hitting for the cycle to lead the Santa Ana College Softball team to a 24-6 win over Golden West (9-20, 2-15) on Wednesday afternoon. 

The sophomore outfielder went 4-for-4 with five runs, four runs batted in and a walk. Griego now leads the Dons (14-21, 10-8) in hits with 40 and has improved her batting average to .354. 

As a team, Santa Ana had a historic day as they tied a program record with 24 runs on 21 hits while breaking the record for runs batted in with 21. 

The Dons had five different players with multiple hits in the game but Nyah Veals led the way as the sophomore infielder went a perfect 5-for-5 with five RBI's on the day. 

Santa Ana will try to carry their offense over to Friday when they host No. 4 Cypress at 11:00 a.m.
