SAC Baseball to Open 2023 Season on Friday

SAC Baseball to Open 2023 Season on Friday

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Santa Ana Baseball is set to return to the field following one of their best seasons in recent history. In 2022, the Dons finished with a record of 32-12-1 and made their first CCCAA Super Regional appearance since 2017.

After the season, SAC had several players transfer to play at four year schools. Some of the names included in that group are Kyle Ashworth (Long Beach State), Chase Hennessey (Utah Valley), Jimmy Urban (Hawaii), Cedrick Perez (Cal Poly Pomona), Kyle Morrell (Cal State San Marcos) and Brock Denbo (Cal State Dominguez Hills).

The Dons still have plenty of firepower left for the 2023 season with starters like Christian Thompson, Thomas Williams, Marc Schavone and Austin Haller all coming back.

In addition, their pitching staff looks promising as Brady Ashworth, Eddie Pelc and Matt Schavone have returned and will be expected to carry bulk of work for the Dons after a good showing last season.

The Santa Ana College Baseball team will host San Diego Mesa College in its season opener on Friday afternoon. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
