Dons Fall in Overtime to Cypress College, 82-72

After handing Riverside City College its first conference loss in overtime, the Santa Ana College (SAC) men's basketball team lost to Cypress College 82-72, giving the Chargers their first Orange Empire Conference win of the season.

The Dons (8-10, 2-3) rallied back from a late nine point deficit to take a four point lead with just over one minute remaining in regulation. But the Chargers (8-11, 1-3) came back with a pair of free throws and a lay-up, all by Andre Winn, to tie the game at 61-61 and force overtime.

Chris Maheras hit a pair of free throws after a Dons turnover to open the overtime frame and the Chargers wouldn't relinquish the lead for the rest of the game.

After holding Cypress to just 28 points in the second half, the Dons were outscored 21-11 in overtime. For the game, the Chargers outshot the Dons 42% to just 30% with the aid of shooting 75% in overtime.
