Dons Continue Hot Start with 74-63 Win Over LA Harbor

SANTA ANA - The Dons matched their best start to a season since 2006-07 with an 8-3 record following their 74-63 victory over Los Angeles Harbor College. The Dons just have the San Diego Mesa Tournament remaining on their non-conference schedule before opening Orange Empire Conference competition at Cypress College on January 4.

The Dons rode their hot shooting in the first half to a 37-30 lead after shooting 50% from the field while making three of their eight three-point shots. Martin Kim scored eight of his 14 points in the half while Erik Emanuel, Cammie Lewis and Chase Miller each scored six points apiece in the opening 20 minutes.

LA Harbor (4-6) held the early lead as the Seahawks scored the first four points of the game. Emanuel hit a lay-up and converted his free throw after a foul to give the Dons their first lead of the game at 10-8 just under four minutes into the game.

Harbor reclaimed the lead two minutes later before the two teams traded the lead several times up to a 30-30 tie. Kim put the Dons up for good with a three-pointer with 2:31 left in the half at 33-30.

The Dons held leads as large as 10 points in the second half before grabbing their largest lead of the game at 11 points at the final buzzer with the 74-63 win. Kevin Ramirez led the Dons with 15 points followed by Kim's 14 and Lewis' 12 points.
