SANTA ANA - There wasn't much the Dons could do to overcome first-place Riverside City College as the Tigers came into Cook Gym and proceeded to shoot 60% in their 94-84 win over the Dons. In the game, the Dons shot well at 45% while committing fewer turnovers than Riverside but neither fact was enough as the Dons fell to 2-3 in conference while Riverside remained undefeated at 4-0.

Riverside scored 50 points in the first half on 18-of-29 shooting to take a commanding 13 point lead over the Dons. Neither team shot the ball well from behind the three-point line with the Dons finished 3-of-13 while Riverside hit just 4-of-11 shots.

Despite Riverside continuing its hot shooting in the second half (13-of-22, 59%) the Dons were able to mount a late rally, pulling within four points at 70-66 with just under nine minutes remaining in the half. However, by the four minute mark the Tigers had already rebuilt a double-digit lead and the Dons failed to get any closer than 10 points for the remainder of the game.

Terryn Large led all scorers with 25 points but only one of his teammates joined him in double digits (Cammie Lewis, 11). Riverside, on the other hand, had four of its five starters in double digits while Jeffrey Gonzalez led the way off the bench with 20 points.

The Dons travel to Saddleback College, where they meet the other first-place team in the Orange Empire Conference, for their next game on January 25. Prior to that game, Riverside hosts Saddleback College on January 23 in a battle for first place.
