SANTA ANA - The Dons took advantage of five Golden West errors on their way to a 10-1 victory over the Rustlers in an Orange Empire Conference game. The win improves the Dons to 9-16 overall and 4-7 in conference while Golden West falls to 6-22 overall and 1-10 in conference.

SAC wasted little time with five runs in the first inning on three hits while getting help from two Golden West errors. After Tina Ramos and Mercedes Munoz hit back-to-back singles to start the inning, Hattie Marshall was intentionally walked to load the bases.

Golden West then recorded the first out before committing its first error of the frame which allowed both Ramos and Mercedes Munoz to score. Allison Benitez then reached on an error, bringing in Marshall, before Alexandra Hernandez tripled in Madison Graham and Benitez.

In the third inning, the Dons scored another five runs, this time on six hits, with another three Rustler errors aiding SAC's offense. Benitez singled in Graham before scoring on an error to put the Dons up 7-0. Karina Munoz then scored on Desiree Hernandez's RBI-single before Alexandra Hernandez scored on a sacrifice fly by Mercedes Munoz. Finally, Desiree Hernandez scored the 10th run on a RBI-single by Marshall.

On the mound, Marshall (2-5) made quick work of Golden West as she allowed just one run on a solo home run in the fifth inning. Prior to that, she had retired eight batters in a row and only allowed three hits for the entire game. Adriana Barrera (3-12) took the loss for Golden West as she allowed 10 runs, just three earned, on nine hits over four innings.
