Dons Softball Only Need Six Innings to Put Away the Pirates

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Dons softball team was ready to play on Monday afternoon, as they took the 8-0 win over the Ventura Pirates in only six innings.

Shortstop Jynelle Pangelinan got the Dons on the board early with a RBI single in the bottom of the first. She followed that up with a bomb over the right-field fence in the third, putting Santa Ana up by a score of 2-0. Pangelinan finished the day with three hits and four runs batted in.

Santa Ana poured it on in the fourth, scoring five runs on six hits and essentially putting the game out of reach for the Pirates.

Kasey Hutton, Pricilla De La Torre and Pangelinan all singled to drive in runs in the inning, while Megan Craft earned a RBI on a sacrifice fly.

Pitcher Pricilla De La Torre cruised to her ninth win of the season, striking out three in six shutout innings. She also pitched in on the offensive side with three hits and a RBI.

The Dons look to take this momentum into their game on Tues. April 4th, as they resume conference play at home against Golden West College at 3:00 PM
