Dons Defense Holds Up in Win Over Orange Coast

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Santa Ana College Softball team won its fourth straight game on Friday afternoon, defeating Orange Coast College by a score of 6-1.

The Dons defense has been at its best during the streak, holding their opponents to just four runs in the last four games.

Pitcher Pricilla De La Torre earned her 10th win of the season after tossing a complete game and striking out one.

Raven Sapla was aggressive early on and roped a home run over the left field fence to bring in two for the Dons in the first inning. Sapla struck again in the sixth inning with a RBI double off the right field fence. She finished with an impressive stat line of three hits, three RBI's and a run scored.

Center fielder Kasey Hutton was her usual self on the bases, taking another two steals to inch toward the Santa Ana College single-season record for stolen bases. She now sits at 39 steals on the season, three away from the record that Dons Assistant Coach Alexandra Perkins set in 2013.

After the win, Santa Ana jumps to 19-13 overall, and 8-7 in conference. They'll hit the road on Monday, Apr. 10th to play Fullerton College at 3:00 PM in another Orange Empire Conference matchup.
