Santa Ana Sends Sophomores Off with a Win

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Santa Ana Softball team was determined to get its sophomores a win in their final regular season home game of the year. The Dons reached that goal by defeating Saddleback College by a score of 3-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

It was a memorable day for sophomore Kasey Hutton, as she went 4-4 with two stolen bases to reach 50 in total this season. And sophomore Raven Sapla capped off her last regular season home game with a double off the center field wall in the fifth to get into the books.

Freshman Megan Craft drove in all three Santa Ana runs with a two-RBI single in the second inning and another RBI single in the sixth.

Pitcher Phoenix Ferrell went the distance for the Dons, shutting out the Gauchos for seven innings and only allowing five hits and three walks.

The Dons now have to wait to see if or who they will play in the first round of the playoffs.
