Santa Ana Softball Splits a Couple at Home

SANTA ANA, Calif. – In its non-conference game against Southwestern College on Tuesday, the Santa Ana College Softball team rallied to a 10-2 win in six innings.

The Dons got off to a quick start in the first inning, posting two runs and forcing a pitching change after just three at-bats.

After a couple of scoreless innings, the Dons went off for five more runs in the fifth behind a single from Blanca Aguayo and a pair of doubles by Megan Craft and Liana Castro. The trio combined for three of Santa Ana's six hits in the inning.

SAC finished it off in the sixth when Raven Sapla brought in two with a single, and then Cheyenne Rogaski ended the game with her own RBI single.

Starting pitcher Priscilla De La Torre when all six innings to pick up her 11th win of the season and boost Santa Ana to a record of 21-14.

On Wednesday, the Dons returned to Orange Empire Conference play when they took on Santiago Canyon College at home.

Santa Ana battled its way to a 3-1 lead after the third inning but seen the lead slip away after the Hawks scored seven runs in the next two innings combined.

The Dons showed resiliency by chipping away with one run in the sixth inning and then cut the lead to two after a bomb over the center field fence from Liana Castro.

The comeback fell just short, landing the Dons at a record of 21-15 overall and 9-9 in conference. Next, SAC hits the road to Riverside College on Friday, Apr. 21st at 2:00 PM.
