Raven Sapla Chooses USC Upstate

SANTA ANA, Calif. – After playing for the Santa Ana College Softball team for just one season, Raven Sapla has chosen to continue her education and career at NCAA Division I University of South Carolina Upstate.

The sophomore out of Ewa Beach, Hawaii came to Santa Ana after spending a season at Utah Valley University.  "I chose to come to Santa Ana College because I wanted to be at a place where I could develop myself on and off the field", Raven said. "I wanted to be somewhere that gave me the time and opportunity to figure out my next steps in life".

Sapla was a huge part of the Dons 2017 season as she led the team in slugging percentage (.687), runs batted in (43) and home runs (7). She was also a factor on the defensive side because of her ability to play multiple positions, giving the Dons coaching staff more flexibility.

She was named First Team All-Orange Empire Conference after helping the Dons earn a third-place finish in conference and an appearance as the 11th seed in the 2017 CCCAA Southern California Regionals.

USC Upstate is a NCAA Division I School and competes in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Spartans went 45-13 overall and 14-4 in the ASUN last season to win the conference and earn a spot in the NCAA Regionals.
