Hutton Takes Home the Golden Shoe Award, Commits to Long Beach

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Kasey Hutton has finally gotten her hands on the 2017 New Balance NFCA Golden Shoe award for California Junior Colleges, after leading the state in stolen bases this past season.

Hutton tallied 51 stolen bases during the 2017 softball season, breaking the single season school record of 42 that was set by Alexandra Perkins in 2013.

The award tops off an amazing season for Hutton after she was named a 2017 All-American and a Santa Ana College Hall of Fame Scholarship recipient.

The communications major from Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach has also announced that she will continue her education and softball career at California State University Long Beach.

"We are so proud of Kasey and glad that she is being recognized for all of her hard work on and off the field." Head Coach Amber Grahlman said. "She is an amazing individual and Long Beach is lucky to land her."

Hutton will begin her journey with the 49rs this upcoming fall semester. The Long Beach State Softball team went 23-28-1 overall with an 11-10 record in the Big West last season.
